Darryl M. Grenell's Obituary
Darryl Mack Grenell, age 65, of Twin Lake passed away Sunday evening, March 29, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1949 in Muskegon to Nathan and Esther (Anderson) Grenell. He married Deborah M. Russell-Teuling on July 1, 1991 in Whitehall. She survives him along with two daughters, Tessa Helder (Adam Barnes) and Sara Grenell (Bruce All); three granddaughters, Kayla and Brookelynn Minder, and Olivia All; two brothers, Connie (Mary) and Nathan “Butch” (Cathy) Grenell; one sister, Monna Sakura; one sister-in-law, Judi Grenell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy Russell, Paul and Mary Ellen Sherwood, James Russell, Greg and Tammy Russell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Denny Grenell; one sister, Belva Stein-Grenell; father-in-law, Gordon Russell; and mother-in-law, Marie Springstead.
Darryl was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, and also served for the National Guard in Montague. He was a CNC Machinist for Spec Tool of Sparta, retiring in 2013. He also worked for T.Q. Machining and Howmet Alcoa.
He was a member of Whitehall United Methodist Church. Darryl was a musician and played the drums in various local bands throughout the Muskegon area. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his three granddaughters, Kayla, Brookelynn, and Olivia.
His Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 3, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Whitehall United Methodist Church (117 S. Division St., Whitehall, MI 49461), with visitation one hour prior to service. Military Rites and a luncheon will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to Darryl's three granddaughter’s college educational fund.
