Mr. David P. Bokmiller's Obituary
David “Uncle Dave” Bokmiller, age 74, of North Muskegon, passed unexpectedly to his Heavenly home on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Petoskey, MI. Born December 22, 1940 in Detroit to Peter and Lilian (Schultz) Bokmiller, he married Susan Pruzinsky in 1964 and became the proud father of two lovely daughters. He married his best friend and soul mate, the former Julie Elkins on December 7, 1985, and they made their home in Troy, MI. Dave spent over forty years in corporate accounting management; working for Kelly Services Corp. and Volkswagen of America in the Detroit area. After “retiring”, he moved to Petoskey and did accounting for Bosker Manufacturing and Pumco Interiors. In 2004 Dave was talked into coming to Muskegon by niece and nephew, Dawn and Dan Cooper, and worked as office controller for Dan Cooper Auto Center until it closed in 2008. Dave was a quiet and helpful man who enjoyed his retirement working on projects in his yard and home; sunshine and the beach; boating with the Coopers; reading and watching sports. Friday nights were usually spent at Polish Union, where he was a member, or, at Mona Lake Boat Club in the summer. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion and Whitehall Eagles.
David is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Julie, and his two beautiful daughters, Michelle Marie (Dale) Thompson and Pamela Lynn (Kevin) Krajenka; sister Joan (Raymond) Gardner; brother- and sister-in-law Ron and Claire Elkins; and sister-in-law Jan Lucksinger; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Michael; and parents-in-law Howard and Anne Elkins. As a final gesture of his kindness, he has made a donation to the Gift of Life and chose cremation. A Memorial Service will be held for Dave at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 16, 2015 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231)-759-8565. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 12N to 1 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Paws for a Cause or any animal shelter would be appreciated.
