David A. Hartsema's Obituary
Mr. David Hartsema, age 84, passed away on March 19, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born on June 8, 1931 to Arnold and Alice (Weichner) Hartsema and lived in the Muskegon area all of his life. David was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and served his country proudly. He married the former Barbara Schute in 1955 and she preceded him in death in 1991. He later married the former Mildred Butzer and she too preceded him in death in 2015. David was a machinist at Teledyne Continental Motors for over 45 years prior to retiring in 1997. He was a former member of Fifth Reformed Church and enjoyed gardening, Detroit sports, hunting, fishing and time spent with his family. SURVIVORS include his son, Barry (Rochelle) Hartsema; daughter, Sharri Schuitema; 5 granddaughters, Heather (Tim) MacLaren, Stephanie (Dan) Johnson, Kaitlyn (Leon) Liu, Caria and Paisley Hartsema; 4 great-grandchildren, Landen, Kaylah, Austin and Izaak. David was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kevin in 2010. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 2PM Friday, March 25, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service from 1-2PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to Harbor Hospice.
