David Russell Hazekamp's Obituary
Mr. David Russell Hazekamp, age 68, passed away in Muskegon, Michigan on Monday, December 1, 2025. He was born in Muskegon on May 10, 1957 to Gerald and Joyce (Jarvis) Hazekamp. Aside from a brief period living in Bridgeton, David was a lifelong resident of Ravenna. In 1989, he and his brother Randy purchased Hazekamp Grocery from their father, operating the store together for more than a decade. They also ran Haze Bros. Music, a DJ service, bringing music and entertainment to the greater Ravenna community. David later spent 20 years with Hussmann Refrigeration, where he worked until his retirement in 2021. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family at their camp near Irons, Michigan. In his younger years, he loved riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. In recent years, David especially cherished weekends spent dancing with his wife, Lorrie. On August 29, 2008, he married the former Loreen “Lorrie” McDaniel and she survives him along with his son, son, Timothy (Eryca) Hazekamp; stepdaughter, Adonica (Scott) Picklesimer; grandchildren, Lukas Hazekamp, Zoe Hazekamp, Donald Picklesimer, and Savannah Jacobs; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Steven (Kathy) Hazekamp, Randy (Shelly) Hazekamp, and Karolyn Deweerdt; siblings-in-law, Vivian Hazekamp and Josh Randall; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Allan Hazekamp, Gerald “Mitch” Hazekamp, and Diana Randall. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be announced in the spring of 2026.
