David Kieft Sr.'s Obituary
David “Dave” A. Kieft Sr., age 87, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born June 27, 1938, in Muskegon, Michigan to Bartel and Anna (Grevel) Kieft.
After high school, Dave honorably served our country for 2 years in the Army. Once discharged from the Army, he worked many jobs. His primary employment consisted of serving the State of Michigan as a Manager for the Liquor Control Commission. A position he held for 27 years before retiring in 1992. One year after his first retirement, Dave went back to work as a bus driver for Orchard View Public Schools; later retiring in 2002.
Dave began roller skating as a child, which led to him becoming a National Speed Skating Champion in 1961. He also had a love for casino trips, golfing, hunting and fishing. One of his favorite things to do was meeting up with his friends for breakfast at Herbie’s café. He also enjoyed bowling and swimming. Dave always tried to stay active.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his four children Jeanene Blease (Terry Falkowski), David Jr. (Janice) Kieft, Mindy (Nick) Lange, and Brandon (Rachel) Kieft; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three sisters, Margaret Cook, Darlene (Dan) Houle, and Judy (Ralph) Kotecki. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Henry, Jack, and Don.
Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Dave to Harbor Hospice.
