David L. Kooi's Obituary
David L. Kooi, age 79, passed away January 8, 2020 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on July 23, 1941 to Cornelius and Pauline (Harkness) Kooi in Muskegon. David served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a career painter and worked for Kooi Industrial Painting and Allied Painting. David enjoyed fishing, hunting and cutting wood. In past summers, the family enjoyed their home on Tallman Lake. On May 4, 1963 he married Diane Tripp, and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2014. He is survived by his sister, Joanne (Duane) Forrest; sister-in-law, Ardith Kooi; nieces, Tamie Tripp, Melissa Forrest, Susan Ungrey, Sherry Forrest, and nephews, Robert Kooi and Mike Forrest. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Poppen Residence. Burial will take place for Diane and David together at Nunica Cemetery.
