David C. Lee's Obituary
David Collins Lee, 90, passed away on December 30, 2020 at his summer home in Norton Shores, MI, and will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Dave was born July 12, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN to Harry R. Lee & Mary Mae (Collins) Lee. A 1948 graduate of St. Louis University High School, St. Louis, MO, a graduate of Boston College, Class 1953 and Boston College Law School, Class 1961. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. David was an FBI Special Agent from 1961-1965. He spent his career with General Telephone Company (GTE) (now Verizon) 1965 Tampa FL, 1966 Muskegon, MI, Director of Security, 1972 Legal Counsel & 1984-1991, Senior Attorney, Westfield/Indianapolis IN. Dave will be remembered for his quick wit and terrific sense of humor. He was a one-of-a-kind gentleman, of great strength, self-discipline, determination, love, and generosity. He believed in loving & living life to the fullest & one of his greatest gifts was being a steadfast & lifetime friend to so many exceptional people. Dave married Janet (Davis) Moore in 1992 and they shared 30 marvelous years of great love & laughter! His most memorable times were the past 22 summers in Michigan, with his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren from MI & IN & CT. Dave retired from GTE 1991 & his greatest joys were entertaining, traveling & playing golf with Janet, along with tennis, fishing, volunteering, reading & he always continued to learn! Dave volunteered for St. Vincent DePaul Meals on Wheels in Naples for 14 years & he loved Saturday mornings, when he met “the boys” for garage sales, breakfast, and volunteering at Sugden Theater, building sets. Dave is survived by his wife, Janet (Davis) Lee and his four children, David (Dodd) Lee (Marnie), Osceola, IN, Debbie (Lee) Winter (Jeff), New Milford, Ct., Mary (Lee) Miller, Norton Shores, MI, Cathy (Lee) Forrest (Kurt), Norton Shores, MI., nine grandchildren, Joshua Miller (Chelsea), Pensacola, FL, Jacob Miller (Mollie), Denver, CO, Rachel (Miller) Grotenhuis (Jordon), Fresno, CA, Elizabeth (Miller) Groover (Dillon), Grand Haven, MI., Daniel, Hannah & Maddie Winter, New Milford, CT, Alex & Luke Forrest, Norton Shores, MI, 2 great grandchildren, Theodore & Isla Grotenhuis, Fresno, CA, Sister, Susan (Lee) Gannon, Wellesley, MA, Brother in Law, Lewis Milkey, South Dennis, MA. And all of his special nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Mary Eleanor (Ellie) (Dodd) Lee, former wife, sisters, Donna (Lee) Woodward and Nancy (Lee) Milkey, Cousin, Marjorie (Lee) McLaughlin & Brother-in-Law, Richard Woodward.
