David William Lukasik's Obituary
David William Lukasik, age 77, of Spring Lake passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born December 8, 1946, in Evanston, Illinois to Vincent Joseph and Helen Rose (Janasckiewicz) Lukasik. David married the love of his life, Orlee Ellen Nicholson, on November 12, 1967, in Wilmette, Illinois.
David graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree and then received his master’s degree from Loyola University. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam war, where he received The Army Commendation Medal. David was an extremely hard worker, starting at Union Special in Chicago, Eagle Ottawa Leather, and then started his own business, Environmental Technologies Group (ETG). He was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served as Eucharistic Minister. David was a member of Knights of Columbus. He was an avid runner, weightlifter and played pickleball.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Orlee Lukasik; son, Andrew “Andy” (Heather) Lukasik; daughter, Tiffany Lukasik Murch; four grandchildren: Austin Lukasik, Alexis Lukasik, Brendan Murch and Patrick Murch; his two brothers, Vincent (Patricia) Lukasik and Richard (Martha “Marty”) Lukasik; and a nephew and numerous nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Lukasik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverends William Vander Werff and Leonard Sudlik as celebrants. Friends may meet the family from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions to St. Mary’s School or the Prison and Jail Ministry of Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids, Michigan are appreciated.
