David E. Martin's Obituary
Mr. David E. Martin, age 84, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024. He was born January 29, 1939, in Flint to Earl and Susan (Luke) Martin. On August 25, 1972, he married Lynne Cheney at the 1st Presbyterian church in Flint.
David served 9 years in the US Army 82nd Airborne and retired for the first time after 25+ years at Coca-Cola and later after 13 years at Walmart in Grand Haven. He enjoyed boating, motorcycles, golf, bowling and westerns. David was a people person and was always ready for a conversation. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lynne; seven children: Kristine Martin Baker of Huntingdon, Tenn, Bruce Martin of New Orleans, Patty Martin Hatfield of Bradford, Tenn, John Martin of Marietta, GA, Scott Osborne of California, Joseph (Karen) Osborne of Flint, and Jennifer (Dennis) Henman of Spring Lake; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Jim) Whatling, and brother, Donald Martin. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Clayton Cooper, and siblings: Richard Martin, Carol Sudbury, and Doyle Martin.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of David may be given to Wounded Warriors Project.. Interment will take place in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at http://www.sytsemafh.com.
