David E. Nygren's Obituary
David E. Nygren, age 79, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on May 19, 1936 in Muskegon to John and Linnea (Englund) Nygren. David was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for GTE as an electrical engineer for 26 years before joining Contel and retiring in 1992. David was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church, and was involved with various church boards. He was also involved with the Lions Club, Viking Lodge, Old Newsboys, Sons of Norway and the Muskegon Area Amateur Radio Council. David was a kind and gentle man, who enjoyed telling stories. He was proud of his Swedish heritage and as David battled cancer, he proved to be one tough Swede. On June 20, 1959 he married the former Marilyn Huck, and together enjoyed 56 years of marriage. SURVIRORS include his wife, Marilyn; son, Kirk (Jennifer) Nygren of Norton Shores; his two favorite red heads, Madalyn (Benjamin) Bultema and Kelsey Nygren. David was preceded in death by his parents. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 and 1 hour prior to the service at church, from 10-11AM. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for David will be 11AM Saturday at Samuel Lutheran Church (540 Houston Ave.) with Pastor Marcy Miller officiating.
