David James Powers' Obituary
David James Powers, age 74, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Medilodge in Holland, MI. He was born July 3, 1944 in Muskegon to Shirley James and Betty June (McGreoger) Powers and lived his entire life in the area. David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. On August 17, 1965, he married Linda Jane Mangino in Muskegon and she survives him. David worked 20 years as an insurance agent for Mutual of Detroit and retired in 1984. He was a faithful member of First Free Methodist Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Linda J. Powers; 4 children, David James (Allison) Powers II, Michael John (Nancy) Powers, John Joseph Powers, James Christopher Powers; 21 grand and great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Eileen Cerrero, Linda Henry; and 2 nephews, Walter Henry, Jr., and Douglas Henry. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Daniel Powers; his parents; and 1 sister, Shirley Henry. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 29, 2019 at First Free Methodist Church (1400 E. Hile Rd) with Pastor Carlos Ramos officiating. Military Honors will be offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Saturday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
