Mr. David Smedley's Obituary
David Smedley, age 66, of Rockford passed away Monday, October 19, 2015. He was born March 18, 1949 in Muskegon to Morris and Lucille (Rogers) Smedley. David was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served his country in the Vietnam War as a combat medic; his bravery in the field of battle earned him two purple hearts. David was an active volunteer for 4H helping with horse showing and a lifelong member of VFW Post #7729. On July 12, 2001 he married the former Jeanne Marie Schiller. David is survived by his wife; children, David (Teri) Gregory Smedley, Rob (Stephanie) Smedley, Samantha (Melanie) Teachout-Morell, Keith (Heather) Morell; grandchildren, Courtney, David, Allie, Kaitlyn, Madelyn, Brooklyn, Ashlyn; siblings, Linda, Terry, Donna, Brenda, Janet and Jerry. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Judy and Nancy. A VISITATION and time of sharing with the family will be held at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave. (231-726-5210) on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 11 – 1 pm. Burial will follow in Egelston Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family to help with expenses or the American Diabetes Association.
