I was in band with strob at OV. He was a very quiet guy but very nice. Boy could he play trumpet. Rest in peace Dave.
I was shocked to learn of Dave's passing tonight. He was a faithful and involved member at Calvary Church for many years. He was a super talented trumpet player at church and around West Michigan. He loved playing in the church orchestra and in the holiday programs we had for years. He could soar in impossibly high notes. He was passionate about music and about trains. He loved to share history about trains in West Michigan and was really into model trains. Ask him about trains and he was off and running. Dave had strong opinions and convictions and wasn't bashful about sharing them. Although probably not everyone knew it, he was a very sensitive and kind person. He was strong in his faith in Christ and unashamed to share that. Assuming there is an orchestra in heaven, he's having the time of his life...without end.
Dave was a faithful and active member of Calvary for many years. He was a super talented trumpet player and loved to play in the church orchestra and in our holiday programs. He was plain spoken but had a big heart. He was passionate about music and trains, frequently sharing historical information about trains in West Michigan. He was strong in his faith and a good friend. I can imagine that he is enjoying playing in a heavenly orchestra.
I’ve know Dave my whole life. But as actually knew him as Strob or Strobe Dave. He has been friends with my dad since they were in the 6th grade. When I was younger we would go motor caring and I remember how cool I thought strobs motor car was because there was no back to it. It was almost like a convertible with a plastic cover attachment if it was cold or raining. Lots of memories with all of those trips! I also remember him coming over for pizza one night and we (my siblings and I) introduced him to ranch on pizza! He loved it! My dad also loves locomotives so we’d also see Strobe at the train shows and he loved helping out and being a part of it! I’m going to miss him!
We remember Dave through the use of his musical gifts and talents in the orchestra during pageant days at Spring Lake Wesleyan. His performances were flawless. Our sincere sympathy to Reggie and family for their loss. Praying God's peace and comfort during this difficult time.
I played in pep band with Dave. I liked it when he played an octave higher than anyone else!
