David Michael Welbes' Obituary
David Michael Welbes, our loving husband, father, Dzia Dzia, brother, uncle and friend passed into eternal life on Sunday, October 13 after a short but most courageous battle with cancer. David was born on September 15, 1958 to Ambrose and Helen (Kloss) Welbes in Muskegon, MI. He loved and cherished his wife and soul mate of 35 years, Annemarie (Engel), whom he married September 23, 1978. Together they passed on their love and were a great example to their beloved daughters Michelle and Rebecca. David was truly one of the jewels of this earth, never complaining about his lifelong battle with ankylosing spondylitis. We will never forget his great smile, laugh or all the jokes he was full of! He truly deserves his pain free place in Heaven. He loved God and life to the fullest. David is survived by his wife Annemarie, daughters Michelle (Jeffery) Godfrey, Rebecca (Anthony) Mikrut and his three grandchildren Carter David, Olivia and Aubrey. His grandchildren brought the biggest smile to his face and joy to his heart. He is also survived by his loving sister Carlene (Roger) Horness, sister-in-law Cecelia Welbes, and brothers Gerald (Sandra) and Martin (Vickie). He is also survived by his special great-niece Hailey and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father and brother Kenneth. David enjoyed teaching and dancing the polka. He was employed as a printing pressman at Great Lakes Printing and later in maintenance. David was well known for making the best jerky, polish sausage and pierogies as passed down from his Mom and Dad. Visitation with David’s family will be Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Ave. on Thursday 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in David's name to his favorite radio show, Tom and Mary Amy’s Polka Melodies at 2301 South Hilltop Dr., Muskegon, MI 49441. Thank you to all of the special people at Mercy Hospital for the wonderful care David received in his last days.
