David F. Wexstaff's Obituary
Mr. David F. Wexstaff, age 62, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Muskegon. He was born in Manistee, MI on November 11, 1947 to Robert D. and Clara M. (Sleeman) Wexstaff and had been a resident of Muskegon for his adult life. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had been employed by the State of Michigan as a corrections officer/resident unit officer at the Ernest C. Brooks Correctional Facility for 28 years. Mr. Wexstaff was a member of Central Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed deer hunting and keeping the birds fed. He could fix anything and he had a special gift of refinishing furniture. David enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandkids sporting events, but most importantly, he was a leader by being a servant first. On June 21, 1968 in Grand Haven, MI, David married the former Dona M. Ingersoll and she survives him along with 3 children, James E. (Tricia) Wexstaff, Dawn R. Wexstaff-Green and Ann M. (Mike) Hollaway; 6 grandchildren (and #7 on the way), Daniel, Michael, and Justen Wexstaff, Alec and Gabriella Green and Michael Hollaway; his mother, Clara Wexstaff; 1 brother, Bob Wexstaff; 3 sisters, Susan (Tom) Niemi, Marilee (Bob) Strey and Jeanne (Ron) Rance and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandmother, Marguerite Haggerty Sleeman and 1 brother, Jimmy Wexstaff. SERVICES will be 2:30 PM Saturday at Central Assembly of God Youth Center (2620 McLaughlin, Muskegon 49442) with Rev. Adrien Thorne officiating. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 and 1 hour prior to the service at the youth center. INTERMENT will be in Bridgeton Township Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Mr. Wexstaff’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
