David J. McGettigan's Obituary
David J. McGettigan, age 69, passed away at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Sunday, May 8, 2011 following a long illness. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on November 1, 1941 to Francis and Vivian (McFarland) McGettigan and served his country as a submariner in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam era. David was employed at Quality Farm & Fleet for 25 years, retiring in 1998 as vice-president of warehousing and distribution. Mr. McGettigan was a member St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven, enjoyed fishing in the ocean and was a talented artist. He married the former Lucinda D. Wright in Grand Rapids on August 17, 1963 and Cindy survives him along with their: three sons, Michael (Janet) McGettigan of Norton Shores, Mark (Theresa) McGettigan of Norton Shores and Timothy McGettigan of N. Muskegon; his father, Francis of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Jessica, Brock, Kaitlin, Patrick, Karlee & Hannah; three great-grandchildren, Vera, Leelind and Zoe; and a sister, Laurie (Gary) MacLaren of Rockford, MI. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian and a brother, Patrick.
