David L. Kennedy's Obituary
Mr. David L. Kennedy, age 72, passed away early Sunday morning, August 30, 2009. He was born on April 22, 1937 in Detroit, MI to William and Iona (Williams) Kennedy. David was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, having served on the Parish Council for many years and was involved with the first building committee for the original church. He was also involved with United Way, Lions Club, Recreation Board, North Muskegon Planning Commission, Muskegon Chronicle Newsboys, Viking Golf Team, and part of the Muskegon Big Red M Club. David worked at the Muskegon Chronicle for 38 years, before retiring as Sales Manager in 2000. He lived life to the fullest, and was a huge sports buff, enjoying golf, tennis, Big Red Football and was just a good ole fisherman. On September 2, 1961, David married the former Carol Murray and she survives him along with daughter, Kimberly Ann (Bob) Gautraud; grandsons, which David was the #1 fan of attending their sporting events, Sam, Jack, Ben and Tommy Gautraud; 3 brothers–in-law, Dr. Robert (Robin) Murray of San Rafael, CA, William Murray of Almeda, CA, Charles (Mary Lou) Murray of St. Joseph, MI; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. David was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Roy and Virginia Murray; brother-in-law, Phillip Murray; and nephew, Daniel Murray. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11 AM Friday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Phillip Sliwinski presiding. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior the service from, 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the North Muskegon Athletic Booster Club or VNS Hospice, Inc. will be appreciated.
