David L. Tanis' Obituary
David L. Tanis, age 63, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, January 18, 2010 at Butterworth Hospital. He was born June 27, 1946, in Grand Haven to Adrian and Marion (Sullivan) Tanis, and he married the former Judy K. Henderson on May 1, 1971, in Grand Haven.
Dave was a graduate of Grand Haven High School and served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Screw Machine Specialties for 27 years as a machinist and retired from Lakeshore Automatic Products. Dave was an active member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, V.F.W. Post #2326 and Vietnam Veterans of America. Dave enjoyed watching MSU and Lions football games, fishing, reading, yard work and especially his grandchildren.
David is lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy; his daughter, Veronica (Alex) Turien of Spring Lake; a granddaughter, Abrielle; 3 adopted grandchildren in Haiti: Rood-Jerry, Corally and Jeff. Also his mother-in-law, Martha Anderson of Grand Haven; 3 brothers-in-law: Gary Henderson of Annapolis, Maryland, Alan Henderson of Tampa, FL, Brian (Misti) Henderson of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Raymond.
The funeral service for Dave will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 from Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the VFW Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post #2326. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, January 29th, at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery.
