David Lee "Coop" Cooper's Obituary
Mr. David L. “Coop” Cooper, age 68, passed away at home on Thursday, November 11, 2010. He was born in Muskegon on September 8, 1942 to Wallace J. and Stella (Soful) Cooper. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Cuban Blockade. He married Marcia A. Maynard in Las Vegas on October 4, 1989. Mr. Cooper was employed as a welder & pipe fitter for Plumbers & Pipe Fitter Union Local #174 and retired in 2000. He served as Past Commander and Past Quartermaster of V.F.W. Post 3195 and had served on the Honor Guard for many years. Coop was also a member of the Fruitport Eagles. SURVIVORS include: his wife, Marcia; 5 children, Keith, Tim and David (Pamela) Cooper, Ray (Sheri) and Jeff (Deanna) Pierson; 1 brother, Ron (Linda) Cooper; 3 sisters, Char Drake, Pam (Steve) Sowa and Kim (Nick) Chorny; sister-in-law, Roberta Cooper; brother-in-law, Marc (Debbie) Maynard; several grandchildren and his dog, Scotty. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wally. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at V.F.W. Post 3195, 5201 Grand Haven Road on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. VISITATION: friends may meet with the family beginning one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Norton Cemetery. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Harbor Hospice or V.F.W. Post 3195.
