David Petrie Caughey's Obituary
Mr. David P. Caughey, age 67, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon on October 25, 1936 to Robert J. and Gladys (Petrie) Caughey and had lived in Muskegon all of his life before moving to Montague in 1984. David had attended Barbara Hall Military School in Nazareth, MI. He was a tool and die maker at Midwest Machine for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Caughey was the president of Local 670 for 20 years, was a member of Muskegon Area Amateur Radio Club on Scenic Drive, and spent 2 years as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #549. He loved camping and driving his dune buggy at the sand drag at Timberlake Resort, where he was Ranger for 12 years. Mr. Caughey was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. On October 25, 1974, he married Sharon Louise Vasicek, and she survives him along with 6 children, Michael Caughey, CA, Daniel Caughey, CA, Susan Caughey, Wakefield, MI, Patricia (Troy) Debauche, Farmington, MN, Pamyla (Scott) Holt, Montague, MI, and James (Shannon) Caughey, Shelby, MI; 15 Grandchildren; 2 great – grandchildren; 1 brother, Steven (Carol) Caughey, Amburndale, FL; 2 nephews in North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews from his wife’s side. He was preceded in death by his parents. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 6, 2004 at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 with Rev. Fr. Ernest J.
