David R. "Doc" Sedgley, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. David R. “Doc” Sedgley, Sr., age 73, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at his home. He was born March 6, 1937 in Muskegon, MI, to Robert and Geraldine (Eacker) Sedgley and lived in the area his entire life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in the Korean War. On October 25, 1958, he married the former Dixie Ann McCollum in Muskegon and she survives him. He worked over 20 years as a journeyman millwright for CWC-Textron and retired in 1999. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and American Legion Post #9. He enjoyed working in his garage, hunting, and antique cars. SURVIVORS include his wife, Dixie; 3 children, David R. (Sandy) Sedgley, Jr., Dawn (Michael) Jones, Dee (Bryan) Six; 11 grandchldren, Jennifer Jones, Kenneth (Steph) Jones, David R. (Lisa) Sedgley III, Scott (Angie Poe) Sedgley, Geoff Sedgley, Greg Jones, Justin Sedgley, Jake Six, Sam Six, Sarah and Luke Six; 2 great-grandchildren, Trever and Makayla Jones; 1 sister, Sheila (Rusty) Medendorp of Deland, FL; and numerous in-laws and friends. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Anthony Britto as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at Egelston Township Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Friday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue (231) 726-5210.
