Dawn L. Upson's Obituary
Dawn Upson, October 15, 1963 – September 3, 2010. Dawn graduated from Muskegon High School in 1981. She was an avid runner and enjoyed sports. Dawn went on to serve our country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1981-1987 as a Staff Sergeant, known as Sergeant Baby Boots. Her Army career was cut short by a life-altering accident. Dawn is survived by many friends and loved ones. If you met Dawn, it was a life changing experience that you would never forget, as we who loved her never will. Dawn showed courage and taught those around her to be strong and to see the good and the humor in all situations and people. Her strength and humor carried her through to the end. “The danger of having to live in a body that is partially paralyzed is to let spirit and self-expectations become equally paralyzed”, said Dawn. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11 AM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM. Burial will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Harbor Hospice or the Veteran’s Association.
