Dean E. DeGroot's Obituary
Dean E. DeGroot, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was born on June 9, 1964 to William and Barbara (Bowen) DeGroot in Muskegon. On March 13, 2004, he married the former Jackie Ostrander, and they spent 12 happy years together. Dean worked as a Journeyman Electrician for Newkirk Electric for over 20 years. He was a sports nut who loved golfing, baseball and watching anything University of Michigan. Dean’s greatest passion in life was family and his two boys. He is survived by his wife, Jackie DeGroot; sons, Dakota DeGroot, Daulton DeGroot; parents; sisters, Deanna (Paul) Block, Denise (Matthew) Sheffer; parents-in-law, Jim and Marcia Ostrander; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Jen) Ostrander; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and three uncles. A VISITATION will take place with the family on Sunday, January 8, 2017, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Fellowship Reformed Church (4200 Apple Ave.) at 11:00 AM with visitation starting an hour prior.
