As a Pharmaceutical salesman in West Michigan for many years, you are bound to have favorite physicians that you look forward to visiting each month. Dean was high on that list and we developed a friendship beyond the salesman/doctor relationship. I tried to make a sailor out of him, but he prefered fishing to sailing. He invited us to his home for a grilled fish dinner which he prepared on the grill, outdoors, in the middle of a West Michigan winter. Dean gave us a subscription to the "Magnificat" a monthly prayer book. I think of him every morning and night when I use that booklet. You have our sympathy and prayers in the loss of a wonderful doctor, father and friend.

Dr. Gerig had such a special way of "doctoring". He cared for my great grandmother, my grandmother, my parents, my brothers and I. My family knew him for over 40 years. For the past few years I had the privelege of cleaning for him and it always touched me when he would share stories about my great grandmother with me. I will deeply miss him. Funny, since throughout my life he was always "there" I thought somehow he always would be. I send my profound condolences to his children, grandchildred and Bette.

My most sincere and deepest sympathy for your loss. Dr. Gerig was the best damn doctor I've ever had or ever will have. In fact, just recently I'd spoke of him in high regard as a great and kind Doctor. He set me up with my first glucose monitor and asked for nothing but to return it when finished and occasionally refused payment when I had none to give.
