Debbie Jean Hobbs' Obituary
Debbie “Deb” (née TenBrink) Hobbs, 64, of Muskegon, MI passed peacefully at her home on December 25, 2025 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on February 7, 1961 to Willard and Barbara (Hardenburgh) TenBrink and was the youngest of 5 children. She graduated from Fruitport High School in 1979 and was Miss Thunderbird Speedway in 1979. She married Ryan Hobbs on August 20, 1983, and the two of them enjoyed 42 years building their family together. Debbie and Ryan were proud to be foster parents to multiple children over the years. Debbie loved her grandkids dearly and loved to see them happy. She had many hobbies, including number art, crocheting, camping, traveling, riding motorcycles, and being with her family. Many of her hobbies were cut short when she suffered a stroke 2 1/2 years ago that paralyzed the right side of her body and left her in a wheelchair. At that time Ryan retired to take care of her full-time, and he was an excellent caregiver to Debbie in her final years.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Ryan Hobbs; her sons: Chad (Amanda) Hobbs, Josh (Sarah) Hobbs, Edward Hobbs, and foster son Richard Maslen; her grandchildren: Ivy, Jazmine, Aubrey, Levi, Fischer, and Estelle; her mother, Barb TenBrink-DeGraves; brothers and sisters: David TenBrink, Larry (Dawn) TenBrink, Gary (Dawn) TenBrink, and Nancy (Dan) Slater; siblings in-law: Robert Hobbs, Lorraine Gereaux, Cinda Hobbs; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Willard TenBrink; her parents in-law, Robert and Estelle Hobbs; her grandson, Trystan Hobbs; stepfather, Clarence DeGraves; her brothers in law, Roger Hobbs and Denny Gereaux; and her sister in-law, Pat TenBrink.
A Celebration of Life for Debbie will be held from 1 PM - 4 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 210 E. Giles Rd, Muskegon, MI, 49445. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made towards the family's funeral expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
