Deborah Lynn Brown's Obituary
Deborah Lynn Brown peacefully left this world on November 13, 2017 surrounded by her precious husband and family after a courageous battle with cancer. Deb fought her disease for over three years, and had such a belief she was going to win the battle, that she didn't share "her story" too broadly. When she did share, the story was a positive one. Deb was born on April 30, 1956 in Allegan, MI to Richard L. and Marjorie M. Severens. She graduated from Fennville High School then embarked on her nursing profession by graduating as a Registered Nurse from Mercy School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, MI. She went on to achieve the designation as a Certified Nurse Operation Room (CNOR) Certification. In 1996, Deb received her Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA), and in 2004 received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. Deb was compassionate, devoted and a much-revered nurse at Mercy Health Partners, who proudly worked alongside her beloved husband of 23 years, Dr. Frederick B. Brown. Deb loved traveling the world, cooking, dancing, wine, the Red Wings, and Bon Jovi! In keeping with Deb's zest for life, the next time you hear a song, sing along or dance; surround yourself with those you love; be kind and generous; cook something fabulous; and shake a tambourine. Deb is survived by her husband, Fred, daughter Mandy J. McCarl (Chris) of Muskegon and son Nicholas P. Scharlow of Spring Lake, two grandchildren, Alexa J. Wolffis and Owen Alan Scharlow who were their "Grammie's" pride and joy. Sisters, Jane (Donald) Rohlck and Diane Severens; brother, Rick Severens; a very special sister-in-law, Nita Johnson, many dear nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends; step-daughters Bonnie Brown and Stacy Gusky (Jon), step-grandchildren, Tristan and Tessa Winkleman, and Michael and Samuel Gusky. Deb was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Carol A Strnad. Deb will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 1:30 – 4:00 PM Sunday, November 26, 2017 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with a TIME OF SHARING starting at 1:00 PM. MEMORIALS in Deb’s memory may be directed to the Muskegon Museum of Art or Women For Health, at Mercy Hospital.
