Deborah L. Smith's Obituary
Deborah L. Smith, age 66, of Muskegon, MI passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. The handiwork of Deborah was always done behind the scenes but was enjoyed by many. Years ago, she was known as “Betsy Ross” for her assistance and dedication with uniforms and flags for the Reeths-Puffer High School Marching Band; she was also a great photographer capturing portraits of many families in our community, as well as her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. On July 1, 1972 she married Murray Smith and he survives her with 2 daughters, Shannon (Mark) Fritz and Kara (Dave) Hoekstra; 4 grandchildren, Allison and Hunter Fritz, Abby and Ryan Hoekstra; sisters, Sandra (Rick) Dales and Sherri Morehouse; sister-in-law, Bev McGuire; and mother and father-in-law, Eleanor and Richard Murdie. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 7, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Deb’s name can be directed to either the American Cancer Society or the Johnson Family Cancer Center. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
