Debora Rose "Deb" Kozal's Obituary
Ms. Debora Rose “Deb” Kozal, age 56, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Mercy VNS Hospice House. She was born November 28, 1954 in Muskegon to Charles A. and Dorothy “Polly” (Wilson) Kozal. Deb attended Western Michigan University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in education and her Master’s degree as a reading specialist, and continued living in the Kalamazoo area for the past 30 years. She taught middle school for 26 years at Bloomingdale Public Schools and was an adjunct professor for Western Michigan University. SURVIVORS include her mother, Polly Kozal of Norton Shores; her siblings, Betty Kurtz (John Stott) of Muskegon, Bill Kozal of Norton Shores, and Flo Predko of Norton Shores; sister-in-law, Margaret Kozal of Roosevelt Park; brother-in-law, Mike Predko of Muskegon; two generations of nieces and nephews; her special friends, Rob & Stassi Pyne and their children of Scotts, MI; and her beloved horse, Fletcher. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles A. Kozal and her brother, Charles A. Kozal, Jr. A Memorial Gathering in Deb’s honor will be scheduled at a later date.
