Debra Kay Phillips' Obituary
Mrs. Debra Kay Phillips, age 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 18, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in Spring Valley, Illinois on July 25, 1958 to Stanley and Doris (Laible) Pelz. On June 26, 1992, Debra married Daniel Phillips and they moved to Norton Shores, Michigan in 1989. Debra was employed as a paralegal for Parmenter O’Toole Law Firm for over 25 years prior to her retirement in 2020. Affectionately referred to by her family as the “animal whisperer”, Debra loved all animals, nature, gardening, and most importantly, her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Daniel; her mother, Doris Pelz; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Phillips and Laura (Matt Yates) Phillips; two granddaughters, Katie and Rylee; sister, Sue (Chuck) Tanton; nieces, Becca (Justin) Herrman, Carrie (Garrett) Ringness, and Laura (Scott) Vollmer. She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Pelz. According to Debra’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family Celebration of Life will be held at her hometown in Illinois.
