Della E. Scott's Obituary
Della E. Scott, age 91, met her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 7, 1930 in Muskegon to Charles & Desdi Mathews; the 7th of 15 children. She came from a very closed knit family; the Mathews enjoyed many wonderful memories together.
A lifelong resident of Muskegon, she graduated from Muskegon Heights high school in 1949. She will always be remembered for having an open home for family parties and gatherings. Della spent her life serving and supporting others as a wife, mother and dedicated servant of the churches she attended. She met and married Lester D. Scott on May 31, 1952. They were married for 42 years until Lester passed on March 12,1994. Together they raised 4 children, Deb (Ron) Schultz, Mary Sellers, Kevin (Jeanette) Scott and Craig (Brenda) Scott; 12 grandchildren, Adam (Jenn) Schultz & Heidi (Matt) Houseman; Casey (Cody) Anderson, Jacquelyn (Fernando) Ibanez; Julia (Tyler) Willson; Jordan Scott & Jonathan (Chelsea) Scott; Holly & Jody Sellers; Jacob (Rachel) Scott; Nicholas (Amber) Scott and Erin (Kyle) Winnicki; 13 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Dylan & Jaley Schultz: Jacob, Emma, Megan & Mattie Houseman; Max & Mila Anderson; Mateo & Aria Ibanez; Loukas Willson and Arthur Scott; many loved nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law, Marlene Mathews and RheaMae (Scott) Hubbel; many great friends, The West Street Family: Dolly & Bill Rude and family, Bill & Pat Perri and family, Rosie & John Leonard and family, and Joyce & Barb Forbes. The Fellowship Congregational Family, where Della was active in and served as President of Ladies Aid, assembled Sunday morning bulletins and was in charge of Church Funerals for many years.
A Celebration of Della’s Life will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00AM at Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. A visitation with the family will be held from 10-11:00 AM. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 6-8:00 PM at the Fellowship Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Della’s honor can be made directly to Fellowship Reformed Church. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Lester at Laketon Township Cemetery.
