Delmar Keith Gundy's Obituary
Mr. Delmar K. Gundy, age 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, January 30, 2012 at his home. He was born May 14, 1927 in Muskegon to Jefferson and Hester (Lamons) Gundy. He married the former Julie J. Madasy in Muskegon on October 6, 1951. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2007. Del served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was employed as a diesel mechanic for Wagoner Transportation for 37 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Del enjoyed camping and fishing with family, golfing, bowling, hunting and was considered a “duct tape specialist”. He is survived by his children, Peggy Essenberg of Norton Shores, Lori (Bill) Jeannot of Fruitport, Tom (Patricia) Gundy of Tucson, AZ, Troy (Kathy) Gundy of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Beth (John Pickett) Brandt of Muskegon and Heidi (Tim) Payne of Lansing, MI; 22 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; 1 brother, Joe Gundy, Sr. of N. Muskegon; sister-in-law, Lucille Gundy of Muskegon and his special helper, Arik Garcia. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gard Brandt, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. The family invites you to share in the CELEBRATION OF LIFE which will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. VISITATION will be Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Senior Resource Endowment Fund.
