Delmo A. "Jigg" Smith's Obituary
Mr. Delmo A. “Jigg” Smith, age 82, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at his home. He was born January 2, 1922 in Elkridge, WV, to Donald and Louise (Frick) Smith and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army-Air Force during WWII. On June 21, 1947, he married the former Violet R. Sanders in Muskegon. He worked for over 40 years as an automotive mechanic at various locations and retired in 1977 from Barber-Boyd Ford Co. SURVIVORS include his wife, Violet Smith of Whitehall; 5 children, Allen (Karen) Smith of Fruitport, Emmett (Marty) Smith of Custer, Everett (Mary Jo) Smith of Ludington, Kevin (Diane) Smith of North Muskegon, Bonnie (Don) Schmidt of Grand Haven; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; 4 brothers, John Smith of OH, Daniel Smith of Muskegon, Dana (Arti) Smith of FL, Richard (Chris) Smith of OH; 1 sister, Nell (Carl) Olson of Muskegon; mother-in-law, Ruth Sanders of Scottville. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Donald Smith; 2 sisters, Lillian Stout and Agnes Rames.
