Dennis Lee Hanks' Obituary
Dennis Lee Hanks, age 62 passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020. He was born on November 13, 1957 to Byron and Florence (Meier) Hanks in Muskegon. Denny retired from RepcoLite Paints, Inc. in 2018 after 35 years of service. Denny enjoyed life to the fullest. His top priority was always being sure to take good care of his wife, children and darling granddaughter, Adi. He had many, many good friends and loved spending time with the guys on the golf course. He was the club champion at Eagle Island Golf Course two times. He was very proud of that. He also loved hunting up north and fishing from his kayak. Denny enjoyed many seasons of softball and bowling throughout the years. University of Michigan sports were always a favorite, especially Michigan football. He was a huge fan. Denny is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Nancy Hanks; daughters, Megan Hanks (David Hatter), and Michelle (Scott) Harris; granddaughter, Adileigh Harris; brother, David (Debbie) Hanks; sister, Debbie (Tom) Alderink; siblings-in-law, Debbie (Bill) Born, Dick (Patti) Winsemius; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many loyal, long-time friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A private service for Denny will take place at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. A PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF LIFE for Denny will take place after current health restrictions lift. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. For a more lasting memory, donations in Denny’s name will be made to The Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church in St John, U.S. Virgin Islands via checks made out to Nancy Hanks. This church holds special meaning to Denny and Nancy as they have visited their favorite island many times and enjoy stopping by the church to count their blessings.
