Denny Cornwall
As he was know in high school was an unbelievable person starting with his younger days.
I met him when I got to high school and joined the band because my great friend and Dennis s neighbor Lucy Garko took me under her wing and got me into the band click..
Dennis was waiting for me and we became best friends, inseparable through our 3 years of high school.
I was there when he met the dark haired beauty and no longer were there 2 of us out on the dating scene, she captured his attention, his time and his love.
Dennis and I share the same birthday so it was ironic that we met and became best friends.
Many stories I could share from band camp to his green Ford Maverick but the one I would like to share is...
Dennis was a huge Beatles fan and introduced me to them and his parents had this stereo system that had the speakers mounted on the side of the fireplace in his living room
Well Dennis had a love of loud music how else did you appreciate the instrumentation so we would go to his house after school every day after band practice and we would listen to records, very loudly,so one day he puts on the Beatles Helter Skelter that starts out with a guitar lead and turns the volume up all the way, boom he blows out the speakers and now they are rattling and when his Mom got home he just started a story that something is wrong with the speakers and we got away with that, however the volume never got that load again,so we never again got the privilege of hearing the song at full volume ,windows rattling but the way the song was meant to be heard.
We lost contact after high school but every now and then would send back and forth on facebook.
But that person with the long flowing blonde hair,1st chair tuba player in the Taylor Center High School Band was always a big part of not only my high school days but the person I became and a friend that will always bring a smile to my face..
May God open his arms and welcome him into the heavenly band as Ginger and Lucy open their arms as Dennis returns home.
Rest in peace my friend. Denny Cornwall....
