Dennis C. "Denny" Young's Obituary
Dennis Carroll Young, age 72, son of the late Carroll and Lora Young of Ravenna, MI. On October 24, 1969, Denny married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, the former Susan Huston. They were happily married for 54 years and she survives him. In May of 1970, Denny was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Sue followed, and their first baby was born. Upon returning to the United States in 1972, he retired from the Muskegon Correctional Facility after 27 years. His favorite place to be was at the cabin in Hulbert, MI, where he and Grandpa Carroll, Bryan, Jerry, and Norbert fished every summer and hunted every season. He also enjoyed golfing with his buddies of 30 years, Larry Wienert, Bob Smith, Jim Scott, and Grandpa Carroll. He loved to be in the workshop making beautiful furniture for family and friends. He was the grandchildren’s number one fan at all events. Otherwise, you could find him sitting up against the stump near the front door smoking a good ole cigarette. Denny loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all that he was. He put up a really hard fight against cancer until the end of his days, but it soon was too much to overcome. He passed peacefully at home with his family. Together, Denny and Susan raised Traci (Bob) Ruch, Jerry (Jill) Young, Teri Young, and Cindy (Jake) Spoelman. They had seven grandchildren: Lora, Lindsey (Brandon), Allie, Makenna, Seth, Libby, and Molly. They were blessed with two great-grandchildren: Laiklynn Sue and Josie Lee Morin. Denny’s best friend in life is his sister, Susan (Norbert) Denhof, and lifelong friend to Harry Morey. Denny’s family truly wants to say thank you for all the love and support they are receiving during this trying time. God Bless. A Celebration of Denny’s Life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Ravenna Baptist Church (3186 Blackmer Rd., Ravenna, MI 49451) with Pastor Dennis Lutz officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
