Denny R. Van Hall's Obituary
Denny R. Van Hall, age 75, passed away to his Heavenly home on Thursday, December 29, 2022. He was born to Jack and Lois (DeWitt) Van Hall on June 11, 1947, in Grand Haven where he resided his entire life. Denny married Donna Constant on September 10, 1977, at Second Reformed Church and they enjoyed 45 years of marriage.
Denny was a realtor with Greenridge Realty for many years, working to the end of his life. Prior to his real estate career, he worked as a para-pro at Grand Haven Jr. High, Park Ranger for Grand Haven State Park, Bender Loudon Motor Freight and Grand Haven Brass Foundry. He loved sports and was a referee for both football and basketball, with a special group of friends. An avid Grand Haven Buccaneer fan he attended countless sporting events and especially enjoyed watching his kids, nieces, and nephews play sports in Grand Haven. Denny was a lifelong member of Second Reformed Church where he faithfully served as an elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher and youth group leader over the years. He also enjoyed several years of being a Kids Hope mentor at Ferry School. He will always be remembered as being a people person, with a quick wit and easy to get to know. Denny had a host of friends whom he enjoyed.
Denny is lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna; his two sons, Brad (Amanda) Van Hall and Corey (Miranda) Van Hall; his daughter, Amy (Craig) Moser; two grandchildren, Riley and Caleb; two brothers, Ted (Lori) Van Hall and Pete (Demetrius Magee) Van Hall; his brother and sisters-in-law, Ed Wessel, Jon (Mary) Constant, Gary (Gail) Constant, Jane (Mark) Hospers and Traci Constant; mother in -law, Barbara Constant; numerous nieces and nephews; and his “adopted family” from Ohio, Jake and Hayes Stansbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Pat Wessel, and brother-in-law, Bob Constant. The family would like to thank Hospice of North Ottawa Community for their loving care of Denny.
The funeral for Denny will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Second Reformed Church with Rev. Mike VanKampen officiating. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, from 5 – 7 p.m. at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417.
