Diana K. "Mrs. Herbie" Kienke's Obituary
Mrs. Diana Kay Kienke, age 64, passed away Monday morning, March 15, 2010, at her home. She was born October 9, 1945 in Jacksonville, NC to Harry and Joyce (Smith) Erwin and had resided in the Muskegon area most of her life. Diana, with her husband Herb, owned and operated Herbie’s Café for 17 years prior to retiring in January of 2009. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where she also served as a Stephen’s Minister, and participated in the bell choir and book club. On November 23, 1963 she married Herbert G. Kienke and he survives her along with 3 daughters, Barbie (Dave) Huston of Saginaw, MI; Terri (Dennis) Kober of Casnovia and Suzanne (Rick) Holzhauer of Pewaukee, WI; 8 grandchildren, Dani, Lauren and Madi Huston, Derek and Katie Kober, Kayla, Nicole and Anna Holzhauer; her mother, Joyce Erwin of Muskegon; 1 brother, Dan Erwin of Spring Lake; 2 sisters, Melinda (David) Peterman of North Muskegon and Rhonda (Ken) Kary of Petoskey, MI; brother-in-law, Gary Kienke of Twin Lake and by several nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2PM Thursday at St. Mark Lutheran Church (4475 Henry Street) with Pastor Mark Zimmerman officiating. VISITATION with Diana’s family will be 6-8PM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210); and 1-2 PM Thursday, prior to the service, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers you are asked to consider St. Mark Ladies Guild or Harbor Hospice.
