Diane M. Bathrick's Obituary
Mrs. Diane M. Bathrick, age 69, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 12, 2014. She bravely fought breast cancer four separate times beginning in 1999. Diane was born in Muskegon, Michigan on February 18, 1945 to Fred and Gertrude (Greendyke) Hermann. She spent the majority of her childhood years in Rochester, Indiana and graduated from Manchester College with a teaching degree. She married Gordon Bathrick on July 20th, 1968 and moved back to Muskegon where she began her teaching career. Diane touched many lives during her years teaching at Bunker School, Faith Christian School and Calvary Christian School in Fruitport. After retiring in 1998, she still helped at school with testing and being a substitute. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church of Fruitport. She enjoyed gardening, women’s ministries at church, scrapbooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Diane and Gordon enjoyed 45 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2013. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Scott (Kimberly) Bathrick, Todd (Jaci) Bathrick, and Sara (Ben) Vawter; 7 grandchildren: Kaleb, Hanna, Maci, Logan, Bailey, Jacob and Paige; 1 great-granddaughter, Sophia; 3 brothers, Bob (Patricia) Hermann, Bruce (Dianne) Hermann, Brad (Kaye) Hermann; 3 sisters, Sandie (Bob) Carpenter, Kris (Larry) Mueller, Marcia (Jerry) Behrens and sister-in-law, Donna Hermann. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Hermann. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church of Fruitport (213 Oak Street Fruitport, MI 49415), with Pastor Paul Lamberson officiating. A VISITATION will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 4-7 PM at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores 231-798-1100. Memorial Contributions can be made to Bethel Baptist Church in Fruitport, or Calvary Christian School. BURIAL will take place at Fruitport Cemetery.
