Diane M. "Di" Buys' Obituary
Di Buys, age 69, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 17, 1954, to John Serra and Joan (Brandenburg) Seeling, in Detroit, MI. Di graduated from South Lyon High School class of 1972. She dedicated 20 years to Randolph R. Moeller, DDS, working as an office manager before retiring in 2008. On February 13, 1993, she married the love of her life, Russell Buys in Holland, MI. Together they cherished 31 years full of love and endless laughter. She was a woman of faith and was an active and longtime member of Living Life Church. Di was an avid reader, traveler and decorating extraordinaire. She enjoyed entertaining guests and sending them home with one of her delicious baked goods. Di took joy in the simple pleasures of life, soaking up the sun floating in her pool, reading a good book. She was a stranger to no one and treated everyone like family. She was known for her bonus kids, grandkids, and family that she made over the years. Di could easily fill a room with laughter and brought a sense of joy to wherever she was. Her radiant smile and tender-loving spirit will truly be missed by so many. She is survived by her husband, Russ Buys; three children, Shannon (Michael) Portillo, Stacy West and Eric Buys; six grandchildren, Bailey, Camden, Athena, Jazmin, Lauren and Elena; brother, John (Chris) Serra; sister, Michelle (Robert) Seeling Hill; and bonus sister, Marcia (Jim) Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Fred Serra. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Living Life Church, 2808 S. Mill Iron Rd., Muskegon, MI 49444. A visitation with the family will be held one-hour prior at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Di’s honor can be given to Living Life Church or Harbor Hospice. The family has asked in honoring Di, please wear a pop of pink, animal print or any attire that encompasses a cherished memory you had with her.
