Diane Robinson's Obituary
Diane Marie Robinson, age 57, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, February 20, 2006, at a Muskegon hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 1, 1949, to Bernard D. and Yvonne J. (Harms) Schmitz in Ypsilanti, MI. Diane met her husband to be, Daniel H. Robinson, while both were attending Michigan State University in 1970; they were married on June 19, 1971, in Plymouth, MI.
Diane moved to Spring Lake from Jenison 23 years ago and became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Diane worked at the Grand Haven Tribune as a sports reporter for a short period of time. She enjoyed being a member of the “Volleyball Group” and the “Dinner Group” at church. Her interests also included snorkeling and traveling around the world, music, and dining out at the Spring Lake Country Club.
Survivors include her husband Daniel H. Robinson, Sr.; daughter Kelly (Andre) France of Grand Haven; 2 sons, Dr. Daniel Robinson of Spring Lake and Christian P. (Melissa) Robinson of Santa Fe, NM; her parents Bernard D. and Yvonne J. Schmitz of Elk Rapids, MI; 4 sisters, Donna (Bill) Fiebig of Saginaw, MI, Debra Boyer of Traverse City, Denise Wulf of Sacramento, CA, Dawn (Jed) Hemming of Traverse City; 2 brothers, David (Jackie) Schmitz of Middleville, MI and Dean (Barb) Schmitz of Albany, OR; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Leonard Sudlik as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 5-8 p.m., with a vigil service at 5 p.m., Friday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
