Diane Marie Wessel's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Wessel (née Johnson) announce her passing on Friday, Jan 10, 2025, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital at the age of 60. Diane was surrounded by her family and close friends.
Diane, born July 28, 1964 in Grand Haven, is lovingly remembered by her mother, Lillian Johnson; her brother, Charles (Cindy) Johnson Jr; three sisters: Sally (Roy) Bennink, Dena (Tim) Hitsman, Darla (Marc) Baird; 15 nieces and nephews: Kristyn, Justin, Julie, Scott T, Scott R, Jaleen, Travis, Brenton, Zulariam, Kaycee, Mariano, Anthony, Joanie, River and Rowan; several great nieces and nephews; friends who are family, and her beloved furry companion Gigi. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Johnson, Sr. September 24, 2012, and her sister, Cathy Johnson on Oct 11, 1988.
Despite Diane’s challenges and disabilities from a young age, she carried with her a spirit of courage, strength, and a deep love for the Lord. She was a sweet soul with a forgiving heart, but also a resilient, headstrong warrior who fought hard for her independence. Despite difficult circumstances, she managed to create a life of her own. She enjoyed painting, music, and spending time with her most loyal friend and mother. Diane attended Nortonville Gospel Chapel. She was supported and loved by her team at Community Mental Health, Ottawa County. She will be missed dearly.
A private graveside service will be held Friday at the Spring Lake Cemetery. Pastor Joe O’Neill officiating. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Arrangements entrusted to The Spring Lake Chapel of Systema Funeral Services, 213 E Savidge Street, Spring Lake, MI 49456.
