"Dick" Grenell's Obituary
Mr. Richard A. “Dick” Grenell, age 86, died Friday morning, February 19, 2016 at the Poppen House, in Fruitport. He was born January 29, 1930 in Muskegon to Orin F. and Mae (Bell) Grenell; and had been a life resident of the area. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War. He retired in 1994, as President of Theka Engineers/Newkirk Electric. Dick then served on the Zoning Commission for Laketon Township, retiring as it's Zoning Administrator, at the age of 80. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, VFW Post #8846, the Lincoln Golf Club and of the Muskegon Area Chapter of Professional Engineers. On October 22, 1955 he married the former Josephine Lobello and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters, Sue (Scott) Law and Sandy (Randy) Wierengo of Muskegon; 1 son, Steve (Rhonda) Grenell of Menasha, WI; 4 grandchildren, Billy (Jen) Homrich, Sarah (Eric Emerson) Wierengo, Sophie and Matthew Grenell; 1 great-grandson, Carter Homrich; 2 brothers, Larry (Lona) Grenell of Muskegon and Jack (Ruth) Grenell of Whitehall. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00AM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1700 Dykstra Rd., North Muskegon, MI 49445. Interment will be in Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION with Dick’s family will be held 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00PM Monday at the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100). For a more lasting memorial, you are asked to consider Prince of Peace Catholic Church or Harbor Hospice.
