Dirk Stone's Obituary
With hearts full of love, we celebrate the beautiful life of James Dirk Stone II, age 55, who passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2024. Born in Biloxi, MS, on February 8, 1969, Dirk’s zest for life and generous spirit resonated with everyone he met. A proud graduate of Grand Haven High School class of 1987 and Muskegon Community College, Dirk found value in life experiences and the relationships he built along the way.
On July 20, 1996, he married the love of his life, Denise Draft. Together they shared 28 years of laughter, love and adventure together. Being a Dad and role model to his son, Cameron, was his proudest accomplishment and of most importance.
Dirk was known for enjoying the simple pleasures, sipping his daily iced tea from Starbucks, whistling to his favorite tunes, and bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His passion for real estate led him to a successful career spanning over 20 years as a real estate agent and owner of Dirk Stone & Co. Dirk made a significant impact on his community through his work with Five Star Real Estate, HomeRealty, and numerous other organizations, helping countless people find their dream homes. His success was purely measured in the happiness he was able to help others achieve.
He left a legacy not only through his career, but with his family, friends and many lives he crossed paths with throughout his lifetime that will be cherished forever. His empathy and compassion were evident, and he made it a point to unconditionally care for others and build lasting relationships.
He cherished spending time with his family in the southern sunshine, enjoying the warmth of the beach. Dirk was a devoted Lions fan who never faltered, during the good and not so good years!
As we remember Dirk, let’s celebrate the joy he brought into our lives, the laughter he shared, and the enthusiasm for life he spread so freely. His vibrant look at life and kind heart will continue to inspire all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise Stone; son, Cameron Stone; sister-in-law, Darcy Draft; brother-in-law, Tim (Nicole) Draft; aunt, Joanne (Tom) Skipper; cousin, LynnMarie (Ron) Leyder and her son, Ethan Leyder; mother-in-law, Joyce Cavalucci; father-in-law, Roger (Marcia) Draft; nieces, Amelia Walsh and Olivia Fisher; nephews, Austin and Tyler Draft; beloved pup, Daisy; parents and extended family; and many dear friends.
