Dirk C. VanZanten's Obituary
Mr. Dirk C. VanZanten, age 84, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 1, 2006 in Muskegon. He was born November 9, 1921 to Dirk and Willemia (Roseboom) VanZanten in Pella, IA, and moved to the Muskegon area when he was a child. He worked at Teledyne Continental Motors for 35 years, retiring in 1980 and was a WWII U. S. Army veteran. Mr. VanZanten loved bowling and fishing. On April 25, 1942 he married the former Anna R. Vaughan in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include his wife Anna; 4 children, Patricia (Jaime) Bourgeois of Dickinson, TX, Dirk (Debra) VanZanten of Cedar Springs, Trudy Starling of Muskegon, Judy (Richard) Yonkers of Norton Shores; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Morrie (Monica) VanZanten of Hesperia; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Fisher, Berdean Wright, all of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill and Ben VanZanten, and 5 sisters, Liz Brimmer, Willemina Hinman, Katie Williams, Gertrude Harjer, and Nellie Bultema. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210
