Dolores Ann Strome's Obituary
Dolores Ann Strome, age 77, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, at a Grand Rapids hospital. She was born December 21, 1931, in Dowagiac, MI, to Michael and Isabelle (Gaideski) Tokarski. She married William L. Strome on June 23, 1956, in Dowagiac. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2003.
Dolores was employed as a business education teacher for many years and also worked as a substitute teacher in various school districts until her retirement from Grand Haven Community Education. She was very active in Curves and also volunteered for the HOST program at Jeffers Elementary. Dolores was a fabulous cook and enjoyed reading, camping, and fishing. She was also a devoted and loving grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Strome of Grand Rapids and Karen (Stephen) Teays of Spring Lake; a son, William L. Strome of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren: Kevin, Eric, and Brendan Teays; two sisters, Barbara (Terry) Wegner of Dowagiac and Judy (Bruce) Nitz of Baroda, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kaye Alexander.
The service for Dolores will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake with Rev. Kenneth Nash and Mr. Bruce Nitz officiating. Friends may meet the family from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
