Don Edwin Bewley's Obituary
Don Edwin Bewley, age 89, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, at home. He was born February 23, 1933, to Stafford G. and Mary Elizabeth (Robbins) Bewley. He married Peggy Botbyl on September 21, 2013, at Elk Rapids Golf Course.
Don served his country in the Air Force during the Korean war. He retired as the Chief Financial Officer from Frankfort Hospital in 1992 and was proud to have implemented the first computer program there in 1986. Don was a member of the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28, Frankfort Lions Club, Frankfort Elks, Amvets Post # 1988 in Baldwin, MI., and served as Clinton County councilman for numerous years. He loved golf and had five holes in one during his lifetime. Don served as a player assistant and starter at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa for sixteen years. He also owned and operated Legends Lawn Care in Frankfort, Indiana where he was well known, and loved gardening.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Peggy Bewley; son, Tom (Mary Lou) Bewley; two grandchildren, Wilbur (Cheyenne Kollum) Bewley and Roma Bewley; his brother, William “Bill” (Norma) Bewley; sister-in-law, Jan (Skip) Gilbert; brother-in-law, Dave (Cara) Botbyl; numerous nieces and nephews; special great niece, Adia; special great nephew, Ares; and numerous special friends in Indiana and Michigan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda in 2003, his son, David Bewley on May 6, 2006, his sister, Eleanor Perdue and his brother, Dick Bewley.
A celebration of life open house will be held from 12 noon – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 in Grand Haven with military honors accorded by the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Honor Guard at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial in Don’s honor may be given to tunneltotowers.org.
