Donald C. Ackerberg's Obituary
Donald C. Ackerberg, age 86, passed away at his home on Friday, September 30, 2016. He was born on July 10, 1930 in Muskegon to Willard and Edna (Kubon) Ackerberg, and resided in the area his entire life. Don was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and served his country in the Korean War. He was very proud of his deep sea diving work while in Korea. Don worked at Teledyne Continental Motors for over 39 years, before retiring in 1989. He was a founding member and Past President of the Seaway Gun Club, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a very hard worker in everything he did. On November 11, 1950, Don married the former Betty McMillan, and she survives him along with four children, Richard (Kathy) Ackerberg of Atlanta, MI, Donald M. (Debra) Ackerberg, Jr. of Muskegon, Shelia (Timothy) Cornfield of E. Lansing, MI, and Bonnie (Randy) Smith of Muskegon; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Sandra (Joe) Drost and Ruth Locke both of Muskegon. Don was preceded in death by sisters, Delores and Betty Ann; and brothers, William, Raymond and Jim. A Graveside Service will be held 1PM Monday, October 3, 2016 at Fruitland Township Cemetery.
