Donald J. "Jerry" "Huggy" Ames' Obituary
Donald J. “Jerry” “Huggy” Ames, age 80, passed away Friday evening, September 16, 2016. He was born June 20, 1936 in Muskegon to Donald B. and Norma (Noble) Ames. On July 30, 1955 he married the former Marcia Allison in Muskegon. Jerry had owned and operated Ames Disposal for 33 years prior to his retirement. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and was a life member of the North American Fishing Club, and a member of the Muskegon Conservation Club and Ducks Unlimited. SURVIVORS include his wife, Marcia; 4 children: Steve (Karen) Ames, Marcy (Joe) Hunter, Carla (Dave) Barnett, Liz (Tom) Ball all of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Scott Andreason. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Suits. Jerry’s family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Sanctuary at the Park for the wonderful care given to him for the 3 years as well as the Muskegon Twp. Fire Department. A CELEBRATON OF JERRY’S LIFE will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the VFW Don Rea Post #8846, 1061 Witham Rd.
