Donald R. Baker Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Donald R. Baker, Sr. age 96, of West Olive passed away Friday, May 29, 2026. He was born in Des Moines, IA to James and Mary Ellen (Barger) Baker and served his country in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict. On August 20, 1954, he married Norma Feyen and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2021.
Donald was a member of Ottawa Reformed Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and reading. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with all of them.
He is survived by three children: Donald, Jr (Kris) Baker, Jeffrey (Marcia) Baker, and Maurine Baker; two grandchildren: Terry (Jennifer) Baker, and Melissa (Lewis) Heckelman; eight great-grandchildren: Regan, and Avery Baker, Lily, Daisy, Hank, Storm, Ozzy, and Axl Heckelman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Junior, Edward, Robert and Lewis Baker; sisters: Helen Whitham, Ila Saltzman, Ivalee Allen, Dorothy Donovan.
In keeping with his wishes, a private family graveside service will take place at Port Sheldon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Donald may be given to Ottawa Reformed Church. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services.
