Donald Asa Bonthuis' Obituary
Donald Asa Bonthuis age 85, of Ravenna, MI died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was born on August 7, 1931 in Moorland Township, MI to the late Clarence and Hendrika (Sterken) Bonthuis. He served in the United States Army. He married Adeline “Peg†M. (Cole) Bonthuis on September 22, 1951 in Muskegon Heights, MI. He was the Owner of Don’s Heating & Cooling. He loved woodworking, helping others and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Post #297 for 60 Years.
Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years: Adeline “Peg†M. Bonthuis of Ravenna, Daughter: Ellen M. (Greg) Slater of Coopersville. 3 Grandchildren: Matt, Ambre and Stephanie. 6 Great Grandchildren: Audrey, Anna, Parker, Jaidah, Gavin and Isaac. 1 Sister: Betty Marshall of Missouri. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Daughter: Carol Bombardier, 1 Brother: Robert Bonthuis, 3 Sisters: Jeanette Bonthuis, Evelyn Nardin and Fern Bowers.
Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 12:00pm at the St. Catherines Catholic Church in Ravenna with Father Fred Brucker celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Catherines Catholic Cemetery.
The family will be at St. Catherines Catholic Hall on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00pm to receive friends. Rosary will be prayed at 8:00pm. The family will be at the church on Saturday 1 hour to service to greet friends.
